I am going to talk about a historical home run in baseball history that will relate to your struggling network marketing business. Frankly, this will apply to any life challenge that you may be contemplating quitting.
If you know anything about baseball, you have probably heard or actually seen the Kirk Gibson home run in the 1988 World Series. If you haven’t heard of this, DON’T STOP reading this post, because you will be inspired. If you know of this, watch it again.
Here is the scenario:
It was the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. The Oakland Athletics Game 1 of the 1988
World Series. It was the bottom of the 9th, 2 outs and the Dodgers were
down 3 to 4 in this game. LA was not favored to win.
The star player of L.A. Kirk Gibson had to leg injuries and had not played in this game AT ALL.
Well, needless to say he decided to step up to the plate in the 9th inning
with no warm up. He was determined and used his mindset to overcome the
injury and the odds. He could barely walk, let alone perform.
Well, see for yourself in the actual historical video footage below

So if your struggling in your online business and your family and friend think your nuts and want you to “throw in the towel”, THINK AGAIN.
I have been in this position and wanted to quit my network marketing business many times. I have been beaten up, demoralized, and frowned upon by my piers for sticking it out so long. But little did I know, that I was a “home run” away from turning it around.
So keep in mind that the home run Kirk hit was in Game 1 of 7 of the World Series. That win set the stage for the L.A. Dodgers to win the entire series. A momentum “thing” maybe?
So keep “swinging the bat” and taking action, because sooner or later your going to hit a home run that will set the satge for your personal “World Series”.

A MOST POWERFUL moment in Sports History when Kirk Gibson jacks a Homer in the World Series with two injured legs in the 9th inning. This was right in the time when I was a card collector…If I recall I had bought a pack of 1982-ish baseball cards and got a Rookie Ricky Henderson right out of the pack (crispy gun and all). I went home and watched this amazing homer with Kirk Gibson jacking a homer in the 9th.
A truly thoughtful post Bert. And I think you’re fully on your way to great success online my friend. It’s a pleasure to be associated with you.
I found this post very fun! Also, I still, to this day…fend off all the folks day-after-day that tell me MLM is a pyramid and I need a steady income. haha
NOTHING – - – - – - – will change their minds because they’ve already made them up. I’ve been in MLM for 6 years off and on and have had some pretty good successes. The interesting thing is, everyone is against your UNTIL YOU HIT A HOME RUN! Then all of a sudden everyone wants to recruit you for their team.
Now now, remember those folks already have their minds made up and no matter how much success you have they’ll still need to learn what you did to achieve this success on their own too.
So, GO HIT THAT HOME RUN!
…and I also learned today that by age 65:
31 people are dead
68 are making a paycheck-to-paycheck income
&
1 person ONLY is independently wealthy…
Those to go to bat with busted up knees and hit a home run in the 9th inning of the World Series deserve the wealth…and the rest deserve to be in the stands…
Thanks Bert!
Awesome comment Zack.
That is so cool you remembered the day you saw the Gibson homer.
Your right we cannot help the people that have their minds made up on the “pyramid” excuse and that’s o.k. with me.
Funny how, as you mentioned, people are against you until you are the home run star, then they want to follow you.
Keep swinging the bat too my friend, the next homer is closer then we think.

Bert,
I have to agree with you and Zack. When you are striving for success, most people seem threatened that you want to break out of the “Norm”. Then when you do achieve success they want to be included. I’ve always said, Life throws us curve balls and if you swing and miss.. so what!? Focus and swing at the next one. Top paid batters only hit 3 out of 10.

Bert,
Boy you brought back some memories,Love how you seamlessly got your point across.Way to go bud…….
I never thought that a 22 year old baseball video would be so awesome and inspirational. Great post to say the least. I watched every second of it. I think it was the longest at bat that have ever watched.
Great post Bert.
Bert,
Like Zack I remember watching Kirk jack that ball over the fence to win that game. What a memory and what a motivating idea for those that are still struggling in this industry.
And like john said, the top paid players and those that make it to the hall of fame are the ones who connected on only 30% of the times they swung.
IF we were able to convert 30% of our leads, we’d all be held up as gurus in this industry.
Great stuff brother!

Hey Bert,
Great post….again. You have a great knack of tying things together to make your point. There are many inspirational instances of people defying the odds but his is one of the best.
It has often been said that most people quit there challenge ONE sale too early. Great advise and great illustration.

You never know when the next hit will come. So the key is to stay in the game and eventually you will hit a single, double, triple or maybe even a home run.
