Who Is That Inspiration In Your Life? Meet One Of Mine….

Do you have your own “Mickey” in your life?

If you are a fan of the “Rocky” movies, you know that Mickey was Rocky’s trainer and mentor. As far as the Hollywood story goes, you know that Rocky could have never reached his pinnacle achievements if he didn’t have someone inspirational, caring and strong in his corner like Mickey.

So many of us are going through some BIG struggles in life, whether they are health, family or financially related. So I felt this would be a good time for a post like this.

I would like to tell you a little bit about my late grandfather, Pete Brewer Sr. who is my “Mickey” in many ways. Even though he is physically gone, he still keeps me in check and motivates me to get up off my butt when when life decides to “test” you and see what your really made of.

Being that Pete lived 95 years on this Earth I always knew I could learn a lot from him. Pete loved life and lived it to the fullest, big time. He made a few million bucks in life and enjoyed spending all of it with his family and friends. He was a veteran, a chiropractor, amazing musician, and was the head of the Musician’s Union In San Antonio Texas as early as the 1940′s.

Maestro Pete

He was a great family man, married to my beautiful grandmother Betty Brewer, and raised 2 wonderful boys, my dad Bert Sr. and my uncle, Pete Jr.. Pete Sr. was always in business for himself and never worked for anyone.

I guess the “entrepreneurial” genes run in the family….

One thing my grandfather would say until his last days is this:
“You keep going full speed until you can’t go no more”

I thought this video would inspire some of you. It reminds me of the relationship I had with my grandfather, my “Mickey”

  1. Bert, your blog about your Grandfather is awesome! My first role model and teacher was my Dad. He only had a sixth grade education, but he would come home every night and sit me on his lap and teach me to read which he thought was a very valuable skill. I was able to read his newspaper with him by the time I was three and have loved reading ever since. This skill has served me very well, indeed!

Thank you so much for being willing to share at this depth in order to be helpful. Look forward to reading your blog!

    Have a delightful morning,

    Bert,
Very insprirational! I’m glad to have you as a mentor. My father was a great motivation for me, he passed away three years ago and miss him very much. I hope I will have the same effect on my children and grand children.

    Much Success to you Bert!
